This simulation uses the Shan and Chen (1993) approach for prescribing inter-particle attractive forces. The initial condition is a fluid close to the critical density, with a small random perturbation. This fluid soon separates in to a high density liquid phase (red) and a low density vapor phase (blue). The exact difference method (EDM) proposed by Kupershtokh and Medvedev is used to eliminate the effect of relaxation time (tau) on the density ratio. Thanks to Mike Sukop for bringing the EDM to my attention.
